"After lockdown and the lack of a foreign holiday I decided to get back to camping. Persuaded my girlfriend to camp for the first time and we chose Ashbourne woods.
The site is quiet, off the beaten track and absolutely beautiful. Our pitch backed into the woods and looked out over the field just below the site office and toilet facilities. (Which are open despite covid19 which is fantastic and was managed perfectly).
Plenty of room in our pitch and other pitches nearby didn't over look or appear to close. Electric hook up as we needed some home comforts.
The option of purchasing fire pits and wood at booking is also optional on site if you decide which is great. We had a roaring fire into the night and the skies were clear due to literally no nearby light pollution.
A 15 minute ish walk away is a lovely local pub which ads to that sense of country holiday and it's only a 40 minute drive from Dartmouth. Ideally located.
Staff were welcoming and friendly, you were informed of COVID policy but it wasn't over bearing and didn't impact our stay. Which for me is a perfect balance of safety and holiday enjoyment.
Showers were hot and clean, toilets clean also. I can't think of a negative 👍🏻 beautiful site"

Lovely campsite in the woods
"We were only here for 5 nights but would have gladly stayed longer.
The campsite is clean and very well maintained, as are the the toilets and showers etc.
We had a lovely pitch in the trees, and had our campfire right in front of the tent. It was lovely to spend the evenings around the fire.
No cars are allowed onsite, so wheelbarrows are provided to take your equipment to your pitch. It was lovely wandering around knowing you didn't have to watch out for cars."

Lovely campsite even in strong winds and rain!
"Our first camping holiday. Gorgeous location. Ideal for 50mph winds due to all the shelter. Very friendly staff. Great for dogs. Our boy loved roaming the woodland. Clean and tidy. Showers hot and had all the basics. Nice distance away from other campers. Great pub nearby.
Only two slight niggles, one being we were on an incline and two, we were next to the steel works which were open at 7am. All in all we had a fab few nights away and will definitely be returning."

Great Campsite
"Great place to stay for camping, we stayed on a wild pitch and it was nice and secluded but with the benefit of the showers and toilets not too far away. Laura who showed us to the pitch was lovely and friendly. Fire pit on every pitch and firewood available to buy. We left a night early but only due to us not enjoying camping in the rain. If you like the sounds of nature this is for you as we had some wonderful owl sounds and great view of the stars"
Lovely wild campsite with good facilities and a sensible Covid policy
"This was a lovely campsite. I would recommend a wild XL plot which places you amongst the trees. It was nice to be able to have a firepit (you can buy logs from the reception) and lots of privacy, it really felt like we were camping wild which was exactly what we wanted. A small shower block and toilet facilities, plus washing up areas. I also noted compost toilets around the site and laundry facilities. There was a common sense approach to Covid which those staying there understood which included minimising the number of people in the shower block at any one time which people abided with. Lovely site and would definitely come again"

Fab camping
"I would highly recommend this campsite. The staff are very friendly and the facilities are excellent. Plenty of toilets. Easy to get there and parking is really good. The fire pits are really lovely first thing in the morning or at the end of the night. A first class campsite. There is a lovely pub close by which is well worth a visit."
